Biology is a part of science that deals with the analysis of living creatures; humans, plants and animals and their existence. The aspects of life of an organism is influenced by its surroundings and living organisms are found everywhere on this planet and biology studies the relation between them and their varying surroundings also referred to as ecology. From small microorganisms to no more existent dinosaurs, biology studies about every organism that exists or existed on this planet. The study of biology is based on life or an organism, how do they function and how are they dependent on their surroundings, how it affects the other living beings, their chemical processes, evolution etc.

MAIN BRANCHES OF BIOLOGY

The three major branches of biology are botany, zoology and microbiology. Botany deals with the study or plants, their existence, dependence on nature and other biological aspects. Zoology studies different biological aspects of animals and their evolution. Microbiology deals with various aspects of microorganisms and their functioning.

Apart from these three major branches or biology, there are few more branches of biology mentioned below.

i) Morphology: This studies the external factors of living organisms such as their size, shape, structure and color.

ii) Histology: It studies the organization of tissues and their structure by observing them under a light microscope.

iii) Cell Biology: It is related to the study of cell and their functions. It reviews various aspects of a cell such as organizational, morphological, physiological, biochemical, genetic, pathological, evolutionary and developmental.

iv) Physiology: This studies various functions and processes of living body.

v) Ecology: The branch studies relationship between organisms and their respective environments.

vi) Eugenics: Study related to factors of improvement of race of humans.

vii) Palaeontology: This branch studies fossils and remains of organisms found.

viii) Virology: The branch of biology studies about viruses and their dependence on other factors.

ix) Exobiology: It studies the possible chances of survival in outer space.

x) Evolution: This branch studies the beginning of human life and other organisms and how they modified from their previous self into complex creatures.

xi) Genetics: It studies how genes are inherited and how they are responsible for variations in human race.

xii) Embryology: The branch studies the process of fertilization and growth of a zygote and formation of an embryo and its development before becoming an offspring.

xiii) Molecular Biology: It studies the various activities of protoplasm that are controlled by its physiochemical organization, nature and synthesis of large molecules.

xiv) Cytology: This branch of biology explains the behavior or nucleus and other organelles of a cell along with a study of structure and form of a cell.

xv) Anatomy: This studies the internal structure that can be observed after dissection with an unaided eye.

xvi) Taxonomy: The branch studies nomenclature of organisms along with their identification and classification.

Besides from the above mentioned branches of biology, there is a wide range of branches of biology that exists and studies all about the living organisms in the world.
